Jen Lowke - Senior Master Instructor & Co-Founder
The first ISR lesson I watched was for my own children. Within two weeks of their first lessons I knew I wanted to train to be a Certified ISR Instructor. I trained and became certified to teach in 2001, two weeks after my kids finished lessons. Since then, I have taught well over 1000 students all around the country. I became a Master Instructor in 2003 and have taught over 40 new Instructors throughout the United States. I started my journey to become a Senior Master Instructor in September of 2018.
I love traveling to bring ISR to new communities and meeting new people and teaching them the importance of drowning prevention and how to maintain their child’s ISR Self-Rescue skills. I feel blessed to be a part of ISR's mission of Not One More Child Drowns and I do all I can daily to ensure this mission. I look forward to meeting you, learning about your child and helping you and your child grow.

Michael Petrella - Master Instructor & Co-Founder
I began teaching ISR in 2008 as the first Instructor in Michigan and I am the owner of ‘ISR Grand Rapids, LLC'. I became a Master Instructor in 2012 and have taught over 50 new Instructors throughout the United States. I love traveling to California a few times a year for the opportunity to reach more children before they reach the water alone. I can’t think of anything else I would rather be doing with my life than teaching children Self-Rescue skills. It is the most rewarding work I have ever performed.
I live in a small community outside of Denver, CO. I have two daughters, 22 year old Bearenger and 18 year old Merlot. Bearenger is an influencer on Instragram & TikTok, @bearenger (you should subscribe to her page!!) and she lives in Hawaii. Merlot is a 3nd degree black belt in Taekwondo and competes throughout the United States. I was born and raised in a suburb of Pittsburgh, PA and graduated from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania in 1992 with a BS in Business Management (yes, that really is the name of the school).
Thank you for visiting our web site. I look forward to meeting you and teaching your baby how to Self-Rescue!

Kennedy Pierce - Certified ISR Instructor
My journey with ISR began in 2013 when I watched a video of a young toddler falling fully clothed into a pool, rolling over onto his back and floating. Having grown up around water, and now living in a home with a pool, I knew that my then 2 year-old and 6 month-old sons needed ISR training. I immediately registered for the next session with Cali ISR Master Instructor Jen Lowke. I was amazed at the skills they learned in just a few weeks. Over the next 3 years, I hosted 8 different sessions in my pool for Cali ISR, so Jen & Michael could teach kids in my community. As my kids got old enough to begin school, I expanded my role with Cali ISR working as the scheduler for almost 3 years before finally training as an Instructor. As a Cali ISR Parent, Pool Host, Scheduler, and now Certified Instructor, I am finally where I am meant to be.
I grew up in the northeast, attending Miss Porter’s School in Farmington, CT and Lafayette College in Easton, PA, where I earned a degree in Economics. I spent my youth swimming, boating, sailing, and even crewed as a coxswain - needless to say, the water was a meaningful part of my upbringing. I lived on both coasts, as well as in Costa Rica, before finally settling in Los Angeles in 2000. I am honored to be a member of the Cali ISR Team, and I look forward to working with your family!

Kaili James - Certified ISR Instructor
Hi! My name Kaili and I first learned about ISR through my midwife. After doing some of my own research and watching several videos on the process and benefits of ISR, I knew I had to enroll my son with Cali Self Rescue right away. In May of 2021, at 13 months old, he took his first lesson. I was instantly hooked and had a yearning to learn more. What my son was able to learn and accomplish in only six weeks blew me away. In May of 2023 my second son started ISR at 8 months old and we had the same incredible experience. I reach out to our Instructors and asked how I could become certified and they kindly guided me through the entire process. Before I knew it, I had gone from a Cali Self Rescue mom to a Cali Self Rescue Instructor thanks to their endless support. I was certified in June of 2023 and I am now able to be in the water with my boys with the confidence and skills that Cali Self Rescue training has given me. I feel so blessed to be teaching such valuable skills to children in my own community. ISR has been such a fulfilling piece of my life that I didn't know was missing.
Theresa Luong - Certified ISR Instructor
Buying a new home in the Valley go hand-in-hand with having a pool. Having a son on the way, my husband and I, had concerns about the dangers of owning a pool. We installed a fence and cameras around the pool but wanted other layers of protection. With research, we discovered ISR. As lessons progressed with our son, we were so amazed with what our son was learning and able to accomplish. Being a teacher by trade, I thought this was a great job to be able to teach kids this survival skill. And that’s when I became an instructor. I wanted to be a part of the prevention.
